The Nigeria Computer Society is set to induct over 600 new Information Technology professionals into the society.
While speaking at a virtual press conference on Monday, the President, NCS, Prof. Adesina Sodiya, said the admission of the professionals would be conducted at the 2020 international conference.
The NCS president said IT professionals would be able to exchange new ideas, gain new insights, build relationships with stakeholders, share best practices and establish standards at the conference.
According to him, the event themed ‘Emerging Applications and Technologies for Industry 4.0 (EATI 2020)’ aims to provide the needed technological support for industries in the modern society.
He explained that the Fourth Industrial revolution was capable of improving capacity utilisation in manufacturing using smart processes.
He said, “The technological components of industry 4.0 are full process and production line automation; intelligent control of cyber-physical systems; and adoption of Internet of Things, robotics, big data analytics, cloud computing, and machine learning.”
“As a nation, our industries must leverage these technologies for enhanced profitability and economic wellbeing.”
Sodiya said the conference, which would hold virtually, would provide a multi-stakeholder platform to examine ways to showcase emerging applications and technologies to achieve fourth industrial revolution that would lead to sustainable development.
According to him, engagement opportunities would be explored to present and develop effective strategies, creative approaches and practical solutions to challenges.
